Hari Singh Nalwa was a prominent military general and Sikh warrior who served under Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the founder of the Sikh Empire in Punjab, India. Born in 1791, Nalwa rose through the ranks of the Sikh army to become one of its most skilled and fearless commanders.
He played a key role in expanding the Sikh Empire’s territories in the northwest region of the Indian subcontinent, leading successful military campaigns against various Afghan and Pashtun tribes. Nalwa is particularly known for his victories in the battles of Jamrud, Peshawar, and Kashmir.
Hari Singh Nalwa was also entrusted with the task of safeguarding the western frontier of the Sikh Empire, and he established a strong defensive line of forts and garrisons in the region. His strategic vision and military prowess earned him the title of "Sarv-e-Jahan" (Master of the World).
Nalwa died in 1837 during the Battle of Jamrud, where he was fatally wounded while leading his troops in combat. His legacy as a brave and skilled warrior continues to be revered in Sikh history and folklore.
